Combat is a turn-based affair. Each character can perform a standard melee attack with their weapon, summon their Persona to unleash an attack or spell, or use a recovery or battle item.
P3 uses a standard EXP system but experience isn't shared with the SEES members you don't take into a fight, so it's wise to frequently rotate them.
An injury sustained during combat with a Shadow holds him back for a little while, but ever eager to get back into the ring, he soon recovers and returns to his place on the front lines.
